摘要
We report a detailed aeromagnetic, field magnetometry and paleomagnetic survey from the most recent volcano on the American continent that emerged in February of 1943. Paleomagnetic measurements were performed to determine the characteristic remanent magnetization directions, considering that the Geomagnetic Field observed in nearby existing observatories at the time of extrusions is well known for the time of eruption of this volcano. The paleomagnetic records of the Paricutin flows showed lower values compared to the Teoloyucan Geomagnetic Observatory and those estimated with the International Geomagnetic Reference Field model (IGRF). Also, an aeromagnetic data modeling provided by the Mexican Geological Service together with field magnetometry along two profiles in perpendicular directions were carried out. The main objective was to model two levels of the internal structure, one that has to do with deep sources (not exclusively associated with the volcano itself), and another one of a more superficial area directly related to recent eruptions and the immediate geological basement.
