Image superpixel segmentation based on hierarchical multi-level LI-SLIC

•There is no need to set the number or seeds of superpixels to be generated manually.•Image can be segmented into proper superpixels without under- or over- segmentation.•Superpixels generated can adhere to both strong and weak boundaries well.•Our method shows a great advantage in dealing with noise-blurred images.
