A Printed 4x4 MIMO Radiator for Dual band Applications

This paper provides a printed 4 × 4 CPW-fed MIMO radiator which is used for dual band applications. The obtained configuration contains two modified T shaped radiating elements. A rectangular L shaped parasitic component is placed, which increases the isolation between the radiators. The radiating elements are connected to CPW feed. This configuration shows compact size with the radiating elements having dimensions of 46×46×1.6 mm3. The presented radiator covers an impedance bandwidth of 3.7 – 4.5 GHz and 5.5 – 7.3 GHz with an isolation level of -16 dB. The presented configuration depicts good radiation characteristics with an average peak gain of 4 dB and 5 dB for lower and higher frequency band respectively. The average radiation efficiency is 96%, which is within the respective bandwidth. For getting wider bandwidth, coplanar waveguide feed is used in place of conventional micro strip line feed. The simulations are performed through high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) software.
