Syntheses, crystal structures, and solid-state spectroscopic properties of dinuclear cyclometallated platinum(II) complexes with mercaptobenzoazoles as bridging ligands

•Three novel dinuclear cyclometallated platinum(II) complexes have been prepared.•Structures of the complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray analyses.•The complexes were characterized by spectroscopic methods and DFT calculations.•The structural characteristics reflect the solid-state spectral behaviors.
