A Review on Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging for the Detection of Breast Cancer

The rapid developments in screening techniques led to early detection of Breast Cancer, thereby decreasing the possible deaths due to Breast Cancer. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the most sought-after imaging method due to its excellent sensitivity, specificity and lack of ionizing radiation to evaluate soft tissue tumors. Multiparametric MRI is currently gaining popularity. Dynamic contrast enhanced MRI(DCE-MRI) when used along with Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI), has shown to give encouraging results. Preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction and classification are the steps commonly used in lesion detection. The Deep learning techniques are capable of learning the distinguishing features in a better way as compared to supervised learning. Building a classifier using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), after using data augmentation is the best choice for the detection of lesions.
