Crystallographic and theoretical interpretation of supramolecular architecture in a new salt hydrate of DL-Tartaric acid and Dimethylamine (DLTA-DA)

•The mechanochemical synthesis and crystal structure of a salt hydrate of DL-Tartaric acid and dimethylamine is presented.•Intermolecular contacts are analyzed using quantum topological atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and hirshfeld surface methods.•The hydrogen bonding motifs present in the supramolecular assembly of salt hydrate is illustrated using graph set analysis.
