Expanding spectrum of opportunistic Cedecea infections: Current clinical status and multidrug resistance

•Cedecea species cause acute infections worldwide in immunocompromised hosts.•Acute infection commonly manifests as bacteremia and pneumonia.•Spectrum of infections has expanded to include ulcers and peritonitis.•Resistance frequency was highest to ampicillin, cephalothin, and cefoxitin.•Cedecea isolates harboring metallo-β-lactamases showed resistance to carbapenems.
