A parametric local remelting approach to improve mechanical properties of selective laser melted 24CrNiMo steel

•A parametric local remelting approach was applied during SLM procedure.•The performance presents a periodic mechanical distribution along loading direction.•The mechanical property was improved based on near-fully dense part.•The local remelting areas make material produce more uniform plastic deformation.
