Roll-drawing of cup with thick wall

摘要
Abstract A new method of roll-drawing is proposed for the forming of cup with thick curved outer wall. The roll-drawing is compared with the traditional drawing by numerical simulation. The results show that the weight of billet can be reduced by the presented process comparing with the traditional process and the reducing amount will increase with the increasing of the length of curved outer wall. The roll-drawing force can be reduced by about 50% compared with that of traditional drawing and the friction between the roller and the billet is changed from the traditional sliding friction to the rolling friction, which will improve the die life of roll-drawing. Experiment results show that roll-drawing can be used for the production of cup with thick curved outer wall and has the same forming productivity with traditional drawing.
