摘要
Iron-based amorphous alloy/Al micro-laminated composites with multilayer structure were first developed by a facile vacuum hot-pressing method. The results of microstructure and element analysis indicate that, the stacks were metallurgical bond and partially consumed to form intermetallic compounds FeAl3, exhibiting a very high degree of micro-structural design and control. The annealing-induced brittleness of the iron-based amorphous alloy was avoided and the brittle FeAl3 phase can be controlled without stimulating interface splitting. Furthermore, wide hardness gradient (30–1120 HV) and high flexural strength (264 MPa) were achieved. This potentially opens new perspectives for applications of amorphous alloys as large-scale structures.
