Studies on Reduction Efficiency of Vat Dye by Indirect Electrochemical Method

This paper discusses the effects of various factors on reduction efficiency of C.I. Vat Green 3 in indirect electrochemical reduction with potentiometric titration. The studies suggests that under certain conditions the reduction efficiency of the dye was high. The optimum reduction parameters were triethanolamine at a concentration of 300:1, sodium hydroxide of 11g.L-1, ferric sulfate of 5 0;1, an applied voltage of 4V, a reducing temperature of 40 degrees C, a cathode area of 25 cm(2), a reducing time of 30 min, while the color fastness properties had no remarkable differences from traditional electrochemical dyeing.
