Preparation and Property of Cellulose Nanofiber/Polyvinyl Alcohol Composites

In this paper, cotton straw cellulose nanofibers were prepared from waste cotton straw, the cellulose nanofibers were composited with polyvinyl alcohol to form a composite material by immersion manner. Subsequently, the properties of the composite material were characterized. The results show that the cotton straw cellulose nanofibers film and the polyvinyl alcohol film can penetrate each other and be tightly bonded. They were combined in a simple physical manner without forming new substances. The addition of cellulose nanofibers can improve the mechanical properties and the thermal properties of the composites. But it has some influence on the transparency of the composites. These results provide experimental reference for the future application of cotton straw in the field of nanomaterials. It is hoped that the utilization rate of its by-products will be improved and the added value of cotton planting will be developed.
