NEW PERSPECTIVES IN POLYOXOMOLYBDATES CHEMISTRY CONTAINING LARGE {Mo-132} CLUSTERS

The new (NH4)(60){U-3 subset of{(Mo-VI)(Mo5O21)-O-VI(H2O)(6)}(12){(Mo2O4)-O-V(SO4}(30)](center dot)308H(2)O spherical cluster was synthesized as ammonium salt and investigated by means of elemental analyses, FT-IR, Raman, UV-Vis and EPR spectroscopy and by magnetic measurements. The results suggest the binding of uranium cations to the SO42- ligands and the quasi-cubic local symmetry around the uranium ions.
