Hamaker's Law and throwing power in electrophoretic deposition of nano-sized alumina particles

摘要
The results of an investigation into the deposition properties of dispersions of nano-sized alumina particles in a non-polar solvent are given. These dispersions were especially designed to give good throwing power, required to achieve good through-hole coating in a process with a simple counter electrode geometry. Throwing power was assessed using a Hull cell, which is known from electroplating practice. Dispersions with good properties could be obtained be selection of the proper charging agent.
