摘要

•Zn-Mg-Cu-Al spinel ferrites with different amount of Zn and Mg were fabricated.•Characterization by XRD confirmed purity and single phase.•Site preference was tetrahedral for Mg and Zn ions and octahedral for Al ions.•Effective magnetic moment and exchange interaction increased with Zn.•Only 2 IR clear bands were found out of the 4 predicted based on factor group.
