•GClnc1 is highly expressed in EOC patients and is associated with poor prognosis.•shGClnc1 inhibits the growth and metastasis of EOC cells and promotes apoptosis.•GClnc1 transcriptionally activates NOTCH1 by recruiting FOXC2 in the nucleus.•NOTCH1 promotes the activation of the NF-κB/Snail signaling.•GClnc1 may be one of the possible targets for the treatment of EOC.
