摘要
Background and Aim: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patient exhibit muscle atrophy and dysfunction which lead into decondition state and caused decrease maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) in tissues. Exercise training can increased VO2 max value. This study aims to evaluate the effect of 1-month and 2-month of upper and lower limb training to maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) in COPD patients. Methods: This study was an experimental study conducted on 25 COPD patients in the Siti Hajar Hospital physiotherapy unit, All subjects received upper limb exercise training by respiratory muscle training and lower limb exercise training by stationary cycling, twice a week for 1 month then continued until 2 months All subject underwent initial measurements of the VO2 max values calculated using formula Nury designed. Statistical analysis was performed by paired sample T test, ANOVA and post hoc ANOVA using SPSS software. Results: An increased in VO2 max reported after 1 month and 2 months of training; 21.3 3.22 to 23.0 3.6. 2 months of training gives a greater increase in VO2max in COPD Conclusion: This study reported a significant increase in the effect of training on VO2 max. In further analysis, the 1-month training did not give a significant value but after 2-month the change in VO2 max showed a significant result.
