Retrospective study identifies infection related risk factors in close contacts during COVID-19 epidemic

•Children are probably less susceptible to COVID-19.•There was a linear positive correlation between age and infection risk.•Secondary cases exhibited less severe symptoms than index cases.•The group of household contacts had the highest secondary attack rate.•The group of moderate/rare frequency contact had the lowest secondary attack rate.
