LABORATORY SYNTHESIS OF A NEW AMPHOTERIC SURFACTANT SELF-DIVERTING ACID AGENT

The amphoteric surfactant sinapic amido propyl betaine is an acid-diverting additive and it was synthesised using erucic acid, N,N-dimethylaminopropylamine, sodium chloroacetate, potassium hydroxide. The reaction is divided into two steps: condensation reaction and quaternisation, and the final yield is above 90%. The synthesised products are characterised for the target product by spectral characterisation using IR spectroscopy and C-13-NMR.
