Studies on polar modification of beeswax and lanolin with the products applicability assessment

Yellow beeswax, white beeswax and hypoallergenic lanolin were oxyethylate with oxirane on Ca catalyst. Significant differences in the substrate compn. of the waxes were obsd. The oxyethylates of white wax and lanolin showed narrower distribution of homologues and a considerably lower content of polyethylene glycols when compared with Tweens. The detd. level of hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, soly. parameter and structural viscosity showed applicability of the oxyethylated waxes in the prodn. of drugs for skin treatment.
