Study on decomposition of tetrachloromethane as a model substance in environment of spark discharge plasma

CCl4 was decompd. in quartz reactor under pulsed spark discharge condition both in Ar and in O-2 (atm. pressure, voltage 12 kV, pulse frequency 30 Hz, brass-W, duralumin -W or Pt electrodes, initial CCl4 conc. about 2%, gas flow rate 2.95 L/h) to Cl-2 and solid C, as well as traces of C2Cl4 and C2Cl6. In presence of O-2, the formation of C oxides and COCl2 (traces) was obsd. The conversion degree higher than 90% was achieved in all cases.
