Removal of sulfate ions from process water by ion exchange resins

•Removal of sulfate is crucial for flotation plants to maintain process efficiency.•Amberlite IRA-400 and Dowex 1X2 was used to remove sulfate in flotation plants.•Treated water was recycled back into the process without having negative impact.•Ion exchange resins was used multiple times upon regeneration by NaOH.•Regeneration solution was reused to reduce process cost and by-product generation.
