摘要
Dislocations and fractures of the hip can be life altering injuries. They can produce significant complications, may be difficult injuries to manage and may result in high rates of mortality. The goal for the management of these injuries is to return the patient to their preinjury level of activity. Appropriate care of these injuries requires a systematic approach consisting of an evaluation of any pre-operative risk factors, recognizing whether there are any associated injuries, understanding that there is a significant difference in caring for simple versus complex injuries, and planning out early, surgical and late tactics to maximize outcomes. The purpose of this study will be to focus on the current management for stable and unstable neck and intertrochanteric fractures and traumatic dislocations of the hip and discuss factors which affect and do not affect the outcomes and complications associated with managing these injuries.
