Shared values as a determinant of the dynamics of compromise between the actors involved in organizing a sporting event

In France, sports events in general and the organization of endurance races in particular are in full swing. The city of Nice has organized a marathon on its coastal area for the past 10 years and had 12,000 participants for the 2018 edition. This event mobilizes many different actors - organizers, partners, local authorities, sponsors, political decision-makers, sports institutions, the media - whose scope of action entails compromises. This sociological study investigates the functional and cultural dimensions of these compromises. The mutual interests of the actors of the event are combined with the intrinsic values of the sport they share and seem to act as a determining process in the organizational regulation of the event.
