REGULATORY ASPECTS OF IMPROVEMENT IN MAN-MACHINE INTERACTION

The paper describes the man-machine-interaction issues relevant to nuclear power plant control rooms. It suggests how significant improvements can be brought about by proper system design, provision of complete and adequate documentation, systematic education and training of the operator before licensing, provision of adequate and properly organized information to the operator during operation, and improvement in maintenance and inspection techniques.
