Medium Access Control Scheme for a Real-Time Wireless Fieldbus

This paper presents a medium access control scheme for a real-time wireless fieldbus that enables cycle times in the order of 1 ms even for large numbers of network nodes. The new scheme is compared to existing schemes and evaluated by the use of simulations in order to determine its performance. Apart from that, additional aspects are discussed that have to be taken into account when designing a real-time wireless fieldbus.
