Multi-node model for vertical temperature distribution in atrium with natural ventilation

Based on Li's four-node model, the multi-node model was established to predict the vertical temperature distribution of a large space building with natural ventilation. In the model, the space was divided into several zones vertically, in which the heat input proportions were different. The model was made up of energy balance equation in each zone. There were some energy inputs, such as the ceiling heat input from solar radiation, the floor heat input from heating. The model was validated by field measurement. It was presented that it is not a simple linear relationship of the air layer temperatures between the ceiling and the floor. The relationship is depended on the vertical distribution of the heat input. It is found that the results calculated by the multi-node model agree well with the measured data.
