Longitudinal Double-spin Asymmetries for pi(0) Production at Forward Rapidity in pp Collisions at root s=200 GeV at STAR

Measurements of the double-spin asymmetry A(LL) for inclusive pi(0) production in hard pp collisions can provide important constraints on gluonic spin contributions to the proton. The STAR Endcap Electromagnetic Calorimeter is well-suited for these studies, with full azimuthal coverage for pseudorapidities 1.086 < eta < 2, good depth segmentation, and excellent transverse granularity. Details of the pi(0) reconstruction algorithms we employed are described. Preliminary results from the 2006 data set for A(LL) for pi(0)'s at forward rapidities are presented and compared to several NLO pQCD calculations that assume different values for the integral Delta G.
