Risk of cancer incidence and mortality associated with diabetes: A systematic review with trend analysis of 203 cohorts

•Subjects with diabetes have an increased risk of several cancers.•The relative risk of cancer incidence associated with diabetes increased until 2000.•Between 2000 and 2010, the relative risk of cancer incidence has been stable.•In contrast, the relative risk of cancer mortality has been constant.•Cancer should be considered amongst the complications of diabetes.
