Perspectives for Anesthesia in a Manufacturer Independent Networked Operating Room

In this work the research projects smartOR and OR.NET are presented in context of the anesthesiologist's workplace. Based on a SOA based manufacturer independent standard realized using Device Profile forWeb Services, medical devices in the operating room are interconnected. Based on interconnected medical devices new opportunities for the anesthesia workplace regarding diagnostics and patient safety are shown.
