Multi-parameter monitoring for steel pipe structures using monolithic multicore fibre based on spatial-division-multiplex sensing

•Multi-parameter sensing system was integrated into one 7-core fiber.•A fibre alone can provide the precious measure of the structural strain and temperature.•Temperature, structural strain and mode frequency, can be measured simultaneously.•This 7-core fiber sensing technique was first applied on the pipeline structures.
