•PLA/PDMS paints have both properties of fouling release and biocide release coatings.•The molar ratios of PLA and PDMS have an influence on the film cohesion and the paint properties•Hybrid paints have an antifouling efficiency superior to a commercial paint with a lower biocides amount.•Hybrid paints have a lower environmental impact than others biocide release coatings.
