Speaking Up About Errors in Routine Clinical Practice: A Simulation-Based Intervention With Nursing Students

•Simulation has generally been used to promote speaking-up among operating room staff.•We proposed a simulation intervention to explore nursing students' voice behaviors.•We identified barriers, enablers, and strategies used to speak up by analyzing debriefings.•The simulation session had an effect on students' evaluation of teamwork climate.
