摘要
The work on salt ion drift in a solution driven by an external electric field in a duct is continued here. The formation of a diffuse layer at the sidewalls of the duct, where saltwater continuously flows, may cause the electric field in the fluid's bulk to diminish and thus, ions drift block. In the present article, the spatial distribution of the electric field is studied, and the conditions where electric field reduction is prevented. It is found that this is possible if the initial salt concentration is low, i.e. as a secondary desalination or water purification method. Moreover, as salt concentration increases, ion removal techniques from the sidewalls should be applied so as to avoid diminishing of the electric field.
