摘要
A general mode-matching technique is proposed to analyze a 2-D truncated perfect electric conductor (PEC) wedge covered with a magnetodielectric semicircular boss, where a radial length of the wedge is semi-infinite. A system of simultaneous equations of the TM- and TE-modes is obtained using a mode-matching technique, partial overlapping regions, and Graf's addition theorem. Our solutions are computed to yield the echowidth characteristics of concave, convex, and truncated PEC wedges, including thick PEC half-planes with sharp and rounded edges. Their scattering results are compared with a commercial electromagnetic software package and show favorable agreement. Appropriate change of the permittivity and permeability of a semicircular boss results in radar cross-section (RCS) reduction of the truncated wedge, where optimization is automatically conducted by a binary genetic algorithm (GA). Our approach is fundamentally useful and applicable to the structural design of an integrated mast or superstructure on modern warships.
