Elucidate structure in intermittent demand series

•Intermittent demand forecasts overlook components like trend and seasonality.•These are hard to identify and model at the disaggregate intermittent demand level.•We use temporal hierarchies to model demand at multiple levels of aggregation.•Allows capturing both the intermittency and higher-level time series structures.•Empirical evaluation demonstrates accuracy and inventory gains.
