摘要
Background/Aims: Celiac disease [CeD] is a well-defined immune mediated organic enteropathy which has considerable overlaps with many autoimmune diseases.Nowadays, some available data indicate that CeD is not rare in China. The aim of this study was to determine the pooled prevalence of CeD in high-risk population in Southern china. Methods: We had been authorized to access a serum bank held by the Center For Disease Control in Guangdong Province, which is by far the most populous province in China.Included were people aged 18 or older who participated in the Guangdong Province Health Screening Program in 2015 (n=7,009).711 individuals were defined as CeD high risk groups with Type 1 diabetes[T1DM](n=53), Rheumatoid arthritis[RA](n=86), Ankylosing spondylitis[AS](n=11), Irritable bowel syndrome[IBS](n=3), Colitis(n=17), Diarrhea(n=169), Anemia(n=226), Low BMI(n=95), Psoriasis(n=28), short stature(n=68), Bristol grade=6 or 7(n=125).All subjects were tested for serum IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA-tTG), IgA against deamidated gliadin peptides(IgA-DGP) and IgG against deamidated gliadin peptides(IgG-DGP).We also compared their dietary habits, life styles and demographic features in subgroup analysis. Results: Nine out of 711 patients were confirmed CeD seropositive (1.266%,95% confidence interval[CI], 0.667%-2.388%),one positive for IgA-tTG (0.141%,95%CI,0.007%-0.6792%), 4 positive for IgA-DGP (0.563%,95%CI,0.219%-1.438%)and 4 positive for IgG-DGP (0.563%,95%CI,0.219%-1.438%).There was no double or triple positive for each serum sample.Of the 9 seropositive patients, 3 people had diarrhea. The RA group and the Low BMI group had 2 positive subjects respectively. And 2 out of 9 patients had more than one high risk factor. There were no significant differences in age, gender, nationality, high carbohydrate diet or life styles between the negative and the positive subjects. Conclusion: In Southern China, the seropositive rate of celiac disease increased to approximately 1.266% in high-risk population. It is likely that CeD is not so uncommon in China. Therefore, there is urgent need for population-based studies on the prevalence of CeD in our country, in order to increase the awareness of this disease and to improve the diagnostic strategy.
