Synthesis and characterization of castor oil-derived oxidation-responsive amphiphilic block copolymers: Poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(11-((2-hydroxyethyl)thio)undecanoate)

•A renewable ω-hydroxyalkanoic acid sulphur-containing monomer is described.•Homo- and copolyesters by CALB-catalyzed polycondensation have been obtained.•Amphiphilic polyesters were obtained by polycondensation with Me-polyethyleneglycol.•The PEG-derived polyesters self-assemble to form micelles in aqueous solution.•Oxidative and disassembling behaviour using H2O2 has been studied.
