Chemicals of concern in plastic toys

•We provide prioritization criteria and screen risks of chemicals in plastic toys.•Highest child risk is observed for multiple plasticizers in soft plastic toys.•Quantified exposures combined with toxicity data yields 126 chemicals of concern.•Critical need for material composition data and for a mouthing exposure model.•Screening method able to quantify acceptable chemical content in toy materials.
