摘要

•HTLV-2 infection is currently thought to be rare and non-endemic in Japan.•The updated serological kits may help to investigate prevalence of HTLV-2 in Japan.•We report the first case of HTLV-2 infection by molecular test in Japan.•Analysis of the full-genome sequence demonstrated a unique subtype of this strain.
