Double column acetabular fractures fixation using a novel dynamic anterior plate-screw system: A biomechanical analysis

摘要
•Introduce a novel fixation technique called dynamic anterior plate-screw system for quadrilateral plate (DAPSQ) for the treatment of acetabular fractures involving the quadrilateral plate. This technique has been uesed for more than 10 years in our hospital.•As far as we know, the current literature regarding the treatment and fixation stability of acetabular fractures involving QLP is limited. Although many biomechanics studies of acetabular fractures available in the literature, there have been insufficient research reports investigating the biomechanical properties and stability of plate-plate or plate-screw combinations for the surgical treatment of double column acetabular fractures. This is the first report on the biomechanical comparison of DAPSQ and buttress plate by in vitro experiments.•We conclude that DAPSQ plate and quadrilateral screws fixation of a double column acetabular fracture involving the QLP resulted in a better fixation construct than the traditional suprapectineal pelvic reconstruction plate and 1/3 tube buttress plate fixation.
