Dual Ion Battery with MoS2 Cathode

Abstract Dual-ion batteries (DIBs) offer unique merits for energy storage, such as high energy density and excellent safety, but are usually limited by sluggish kinetics for anions intercalation into graphite cathodes under high voltage range (≥5.4 V). Here, we reported MoS2 as a novel cathode to store anion owing to larger layered spacing (∼ 6.15 A) than graphite (∼ 3.35 A). Such structure can effectively improve anion intercalation kinetics and achieve excellent stability in a wide voltage window (below 5 V). Complete batteries have been further fabricated, achieving stable cycling performance with promising working voltage and energy density, which exceeds most reported DIBs.
