SENIORS AND THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH DEVICES IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

Seniors are integral part of population and as such are influenced by development in society. One of aspects is conforming to the development in society in the field of information technologies. People should learn how to use these technologies as these technologies penetrate steadily into their everyday life. With the development in the field of information technologies new forms of communication with these technologies (computers or device that are controlled by computers) emerge. In such a way we move from traditional communication (based on the use of keyboard and mouse) towards new forms of communication. In most cases these new forms of communication make the work with computers easier and thus they have potential for their use by seniors. In the past seniors were taught how to use keyboard and mouse. In analogical way they should be aware of these new forms of communication. When these new forms are created - first of all seniors should be asked about their needs. These needs are then a starting point in the process of design and development of these new devices. In the presentation several research results achieved at CTU in Prague will be presented.
