•Immunity-related genes in Hyalomma asiaticum transcriptome were annotated.•Most components of the Toll and JAK/STAT signaling pathways were identified.•The key components of IMD signaling pathway are missing.•Gene expansion of Dicer-2 and Argonaute-2 were identified.•Defensin and lysozyme genes were highly expressed after bacterial challenge.
