摘要

•HIV-1 subtype C is the most prevalent subtype globally.•Elimination of HIV needs reliable diagnostics, especially HIV-NAT assays.•We found a high level of correlation between the major CE-marked HIV-1 NATs for HIV-1 subtype C detection and quantitation.•We did not identify failures of HIV-1 subtype C determination by mono-target NAT assays, as it was published for few variants of HIV-1 subtype B.
