Evaluation of reliability and validity of the Persian version of the Neurological Disorders Depression Inventory for Epilepsy (P-NDDI-E)

•Persian version of NDDI-E (P-NDDI-E) is a valid and reliable screening tool for detecting major depression in patients with epilepsy in Iran.•Receiver operating characteristic analysis demonstrated the optimal cut off score ≥14.•The sensitivity and specificity were 83% and 80% respectively.•The scores of the P_NDDI-E were well correlated with those of the BDI-II.
