RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SERUM SOLUBLE INTERLEUKIN-33 LEVELS AND CLINICAL FEATURES IN PATIENTS WITH COLORECTAL CANCER AND ITS DIAGNOSTIC VALUE

Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum soluble interleukin-33 (IL-33) levels and clinical features in patients with colorectal cancer and its diagnostic value. Methods: A total of 96 patients with colorectal cancer diagnosed and treated by gastrointestinal surgery at our hospital from December 2016 to March 2018 were randomly selected as the observation group. In the same period, 55 healthy adults who underwent physical examination in the physical examination centre of our hospital were selected as the healthy control group. The serum of 66 patients with intestinal polyps was used as the benign disease control group. The relationship between interleukin-33 (IL-33) level and clinical characteristics, the diagnostic value of sIL-33, CEA, CA19-9 and the combination of these three factors in patients with colorectal cancer was compared among the three groups. Results: The level of sIL-33 in A1 group was significantly higher than that in the other two groups. The results were comparable and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Regarding the degree of differentiation, the level of sIL-33 in middle/low differen-tiation was obviously higher than that in high differentiation. The results were comparable and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At the tumour site, the level of sIL-33 in the colon was markedly higher than that in the rectum. The results were comparable and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In the comparison of IL-33, CEA and CA-19, the sensitivity, negative predictive value and accuracy of sIL-33 were higher than that of CEA and CA19-9, which has good diagnostic value for colon cancer. Conclusion: In patients with colorectal cancer, serum soluble interleukin-33 is abnormally expressed in the tumour and is closely related to the position and the differentiation degree of the tumour, leading to a more accurate diagnosis.
