Diffusion tensor-based analysis of white matter in the healthy aging canine brain

•TBSS can be applied to canine diffusion MRI for comparison to aging human findings.•Aged dogs showed decreased FA in parietal, temporal, and central regions.•Aged dogs showed decreased AxD in the parietal, frontal, and midbrain regions.•Age-related increase in RD was observed in the right parietal lobe.•Age-related MD decrease was observed in the midbrain.•Canines showed similar white matter diffusion aging patterns to humans.
