Early extubation in current valve surgery requiring long cardiopulmonary bypass: Benefits and predictive value of preoperative spirometry

•Spirometry was useful to predict early extubation(EEx) after valve surgeries.•EEx was possible without increasing adverse events in valve surgeries.•EEx was associated with a shorter length of ICU and hospital stay.•EEx was considered beneficial for patients in current valve surgery.•The STS prolonged ventilation score was not an independent predictor of EEx.
