Children’s perception of social robots as a source of information across different domains of knowledge

•Children consider robots to be good sources of information about machines but not about biology and psychology.•They judge robots to be more knowledgeable than cartoon characters but less so than adults.•The more perceptual abilities children attribute to robots, the more likely they are to judge them as knowledgeable.
